Hi friends. Just with you some information since I am comparing these 2 smart gadgets that currently "hot" on the market although I received bad reputation with regards to Samsung Galaxy Gear watch.

technically, Samsung's width is 23% wider than Sony and it's height is 39% taller than Sony. However, Sony is 13.5% longer than Samsung.

Sony gives us the choice either to use leather or metal strap. To me comfortable does play a major role here. With Sony, I can have a choice according to my level of comfort and style of the day!
BUILD QUALITY
Plastic is not available in both products. Samsung opt for stainless steel and Sony opts for Aluminium. Sounds great.

The Galaxy Gear scores well here knowing the fact that the Gear comes with Super AMOLED Display vs TFT Screen by Sony. Both claims that it looks good in the sun. I prefer the Super AMOLED Display as the pixel quality is sharp.

In this category, owning a Sony Smartwatch does gives an advantage to all Android users as the watch is compatible with all Android phones running Android 4.0 above as opposed to the Gear which is only compatible with Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
However, in few months time, expect Galaxy S4, S3 and Note 2 to be compatible as software updates will enable these gadgets to sync well with the Gear.

For Bluetooth features, both are compatible, except Galaxy Gear uses a new technology known as the Battery conserving Bluetooth LE (Low Energy).
NFC only qualifies for SmartWatch as opposed to the Gear. Nothing to be fancied for this feature.

- Battery Life: Sony performs better is this field as it lacks many features compared to Galaxy Gear. The more intelligent you gadgets are, the more energy is needed to perform the task!
- The Galaxy Gear has voice control feature as opposed to Sony. It is now a new technology as you can have those in any Android phones.
- I like the camera feature as I can capture anything without with silent! Please don't abuse this feature okay! Credit to Samsung for enabling this features in the Galaxy Gear.
- Only Galaxy Gear enables you to call people as opposed to Sony.
- Galaxy gear by far the fastest in the processor field as compared to Sony with a speed of 800MHz vs 200MHz.
- In terms of water resistance, IP 57 is tougher compared to IP 55 as IP 57 is good for 30 minutes under 1 metre of the wet stuff and should survive rain showers and splashes.
In a Nutshell:
The Galaxy Gear and Sony SmartWatch 2 has its own features embedded into it. It boils down to you to make the final choice because at the end of the day, no matter what the review tells you, it is you who use and judge it.
My 2 cents.
